Activity Type:
RI Youth Programs (Youth Exchange, RYLA, Rotaract, Interact)
Summary: Scholarships to attend JR RYLA, 11 students total
Teen mental health is a huge issue in this country, including Sedona and the Verde Valley. Prevention is the best approach. JR RYLA is life changing for teens 12-14. The teens that attended JR RYLA last year, and their parents, tell us the experience is lifechanging. For many, this is their first time away from home. Especially for those who lack self-confidence, the program brings out leadership skills through outdoor-based activities that encourage teamwork, trust, and problem solving. This is an interactive, experiential program with challenges, sharing, and group support. It builds skills and confidence, self-knowledge, and lasting friendships. We will use the scholarship money to fund 11 students to attend JR RYLA in Prescott AZ. in 2026. 17 students from Sedona and the Verde Valley have already applied to attend the JR RYLA at Camp Wamatochick this June, 2025. Since our Club is submitted two grants, JR RYLA is our first priority.
