The Rotary Club of the Pelhams recognizes two Pelham Memorial High School (PMHS) Scholars of the Month at a Rotary lunch each month from September through June. These are chosen by the PMHS Principal for their exemplary academic and extracurricular performance. The PMHS Principal is a member of our Club. The Club awards what is now a $20,000 Scholarship to a graduating senior each June. The money is given in four parts, divided amongst the four years of college. Each July the Club hosts a lunch for the current and past three scholarship winners. The parents of all the scholars and scholarship winners are invited to the lunches, at which they and their children learn more about Rotary and may have an interest in supporting our Club and/or becoming a member.
The Rotary Club of The Pelhams pays for about 25 lunches at $20 each for at least $500. The funds come from members dues and added donations from members. The Club requests a matching District grant to help defray this cost so our Club could use the $250 to contribute to more global and local programs.
