Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Mountain Home, ID

Total Budget: $2,000

Area of Focus: Water, sanitation and hygiene

Activity Type: Health: General

Summary: We provide needed hygiene products to 10 schools, domestic violence victims and hospice in Mountain Home, ID

As we have done every year various club members contact the schools to find out what is needed. Those items are then purchased or donated by various members of the club. Club members will help bag and delivery items. We plan to continue our distribution of basic hygiene and essential products on an as needed basis by the various schools. In the past few years our members have added victims of domestic violence to our list. Members of the club made the decision to add hospice to our list after learning of their needs. With our funds from the grant and our own club funds and donations from club members as well we are able to provide the much-needed items. Providing basic hygiene items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant, soaps, feminine hygiene (which was a special request by one of the schools) products for children and adults alike will help with the self-esteem of the recipients of these products. Various members of the club distribute items in the fall and spring to help keep the hygiene closets in the schools stocked. Our members plan to provide requested items to the elementary schools to include sweatpants, leggings, underwear and socks for their hygiene closets. We wish to continue to be able to supply these much-needed essential items to those organizations in need.

Hi Barb. As I recall from previous years of your doing this project, the club members contacted teachers to learn their needs and the club members also did the shopping. You might tweak your application a little bit to more clearly describe the Rotarians' activities in the project. Thanks! Once you're satisfied with your application, click "start club signature process" on the administration side of the description tab. Thanks!
