Summary: Provide five hospital beds for Hospice of Homer Medical Equipment Loan Program
Strengthening the southern Kenai Peninsula's health care systems is a major focus of the Rotary Club of Homer -Kachemak Bay community support efforts. In addition to our annual Health Fair, which services about a quarter of the local area population, we support the Hospice of Homer. Since 1985, Hospice of Homer's non-medical support and empowerment services to the frail and isolated and to those facing end-of-life issues has contributed to improving the capacity of our local health care professionals. Since the late 1990's, Hospice of Homer has worked in conjunction with South Peninsula Hospital to provide medical equipment to the community. The Medical Equipment Loan Program provides free access to durable medical equipment-enhancing safety, comfort, and dignity at home, relieving stress on the community's limited long-term care facilities. A key piece of equipment is the Electric/adjustable hospital beds with mattresses and rails. This equipment is highly sought after, and older units need replacement. To the support the needs of the community, the Rotary Club of Homer-Kachemak Bay is looking to purchase five beds for a total of $6000.00. This equipment is available through Alaska-owned companies and will be available during the 2026-2027 Rotary year. The Rotary Club of Homer participate in the ordering and bid approval process. Purchased beds will be identified as being gifted to the Hospice of Homer by the Rotary Club of Homer. The official presentation ceremony will receive local media coverage.
