Project Description Country: USA Location: Fort Collins Breakfast Total Budget: $3,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Proving Scholarships to high school seniors in the Poudre School District in Colorado to attend college. The Rotary Club of Fort Collins Breakfast annually awards two $6,000 scholarships, paid out over four years, to high school students wishing to attend a four year college or university. We request $1,000 from the Scholarship pool of District funds to assist in this project. In the first year, $3,000 will be be provided to those two students. Our Club will pay $2,000 and we request the District to pay $1,000. Our club coordinates with the Poudre School District who informs the students of the availability of the scholarships, who then apply. Annually, we receive in excess of 100 applications. A committee of Rotarians from our club review the applications and select the two six to ten applications. A smaller committee meets with those applicants via zoom and selects the two awardees.
