Project Description Country: USA Location: San Diego Total Budget: $5,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Scholarship Summary: This project will provide a $5,000 college scholarship for a deserving Escondido high school senior. The Rotary Club of Escondido celebrated 100 years of service to the community in 2024. For the 2024-25 Rotary year, we implemented a fund-raising campaign to secure $100,000 in a separate account, to create an ongoing, annual scholarship to a top Escondido student. Using the interest on the account, when fully funded, will give us $5000 a year for a deserving student who wishes to continue his/her education with college. For RY 2026-27, we would match $2500 to the $2500 District Grant for our second Rotary Centennial College Scholarship. It would be awarded in June, at the same time our annual scholarship awards are made with students from our five high schools. Several Rotarians will be involved in contacting the school, interviewing and selecting students.
