Project Description Country: USA Location: Arlington Total Budget: $4,539 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Uniforms will be provided to students of Webb Elementary and Nichols Jr High The Rotary Club of Arlington has sponsored Webb Elementary for decades, providing scholarships to all Webb students in the sixth grade to attend the local community college and/or University upon high school graduation. The efforts to establish contact with these students early in their education path is now extending to maintaining a mentorship connection between their elementary, intermediate, and secondary schools. Webb Elementary and its feeder intermediate school have moved to uniforms this academic year. Given Webb and its intermediate school are both Title I, affording uniforms has become a non-academic barrier for the very kids we have been trying to assist and bring hope. Therefore, the District Designated Funds will purchase uniforms for both Webb students and their feeder intermediate school with a 60-40% split of the funds. This is a chance to help the students build their self-esteem, to continue to deepen our mentor relationship with the students, and to help aid the school faculty and administration in achieving stronger academic performances.
