Project Description Country: USA Location: San Diego Total Budget: $5,000 Areas of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention, Maternal and child health, Basic education and literacy, Community economic development Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Six-month pilot after school program for15 to 20 middle school children from low income families The program will take place every Tuesday for two-and-a-half hours. It provides a safe and welcoming environment where youth can together develop circus skills while building confidence, leadership, teamwork, and social-emotional well-being. Students learn circus, including juggling, acrobatics, balancing, creative movement, body awareness, and performance preparation. Many students in City Heights have difficulty finding safe spaces where they can connect with positive peers, caring mentors, and members of their community. This program creates a brave and supportive space where young people can express themselves, build relationships, take positive risks, and develop a sense of belonging.
