Many capable students work hard and serve others but are never taught how to present their value in ways that win college admission, scholarships, internships, awards or jobs. Pitch Your Potential provides a practical framework to identify strengths, tell a credible story and compete for opportunities that can change educational and economic trajectories.
WHO RECEIVES THE BOOKS
University recipients earn the book through strong academic performance and volunteer service. It serves as both recognition and required train-the-trainer material for workshops, essay review, mentoring and community project development.
First-generation high school recipients are preparing for higher education within the next one or two years. Early guidance can strengthen applications, scholarship access, confidence and career readiness.
WHO THE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS SERVE
University students working under Bogdan Matuszynski mentor college-age women in Afghanistan and local high school students identified by San Diego County programs as first-generation future college students. Locally, this includes participants in the A Bridge for Kids program, taught by Bogdan and his university-student team.
Bogdan Matuszynski of iSERVE Education Coaching will supplement the book with instruction on scholarship and university essays, resumes, interviews and professional introductions. University volunteers will use the material to teach and mentor learners who are often vulnerable or under-resourced. Each book becomes a long-term reference, not a one-time giveaway.
Positive Peace means strengthening the conditions that allow people to thrive: education, opportunity, trusted relationships, inclusion, hope and economic mobility. This project turns that concept into action by helping students convert talent into opportunity, then preparing them to guide others. The result is reduced opportunity gaps, stronger human capital and supportive networks across communities.
