A Yonkers parochial school has identified a critical need for safe, developmentally appropriate play equipment for their Pre-K and Kindergarten students. Many children lack opportunities to practice gross motor skills such as balance, coordination, climbing, and spacial awareness. The school currently has limited equipment, and teachers report that students would benefit greatly from structured physical play.
The project will purchase durable school-approved play items including small climbing blocks, balance beams, sensory play mats, and outdoor activity toys. These items will be delivered directly to the school and set up in collaboration with staff. Club members will participate by coordinating vendor selection, purchasing equipment, and assist with setup. We expect to have the project completed within 90 days of grant approval.
This initiative supports early childhood development, enhances the learning environment, and align with Rotary's commitment to Basic Education & Literacy by strengthening foundational motor skills that support classroom readiness.
