Teachers in small community schools in Guatemala lack the resources and training to bring up to date materials and information into their classrooms. Children, more often girls, end their education at 6th grade or earlier and leave school unqualified for work that will provide for dignified living. Their options are limited, and they can't contribute their full potential to their community.
The objectives of our project are to bring access to 21st Century information to schoolchildren in under-served communities in rural Guatemala. The project will give teachers the technology tools and the skills to access the internet and adapt content for use in the classroom. By doing so we will enable teachers to improve instruction and to encourage students and their parents to continue students' education beyond
6th grade, to middle school.
