The inhabitants of the La Carrera and El Nogal villages do not have access to drinking water, which is why they frequently suffer from gastrointestinal problems, which are more common in older adults and children. The physical-chemical and microbiological analyses of the water, carried out at the Departmental Health Laboratory, show that the degree of risk of occurrence of diseases related to non-compliance with the physical-chemical and microbiological characteristics of drinking water is 93.82%. For this reason, the installation of a plant is necessary for a better quality of life for all the inhabitants of the sector. It is a compact modular plant with a capacity of 1.7 lps (litres per second). There is a storage tank of 500 thousand litres and the distribution network in both villages that currently distribute non-potable water. The plant will be built where the storage and distribution tanks currently operate, located in the RAGUACHE sector, Vereda Galban, in the Municipality of Tipacoque, Boyacá. At the following coordinates: 6° 26'51¨ N. 62° 42'26¨ W.
The general objective is to provide drinking water to 250 homes and two schools in the El Nogal and La Carrera villages of the Tipacoque Municipality in Boyacá. This will directly benefit 1,200 people through the installation, assembly and operation of a water treatment plant. Community leaders (members of the Water Board) will be trained on the use and maintenance of the Plant, and beneficiaries will be trained on basic sanitation, good hygiene habits and practices, and we will raise awareness about the rational use of water, with the purpose of reducing diseases caused by contaminated water and contributing to improving the quality of life and public health of the vulnerable population, especially children and the elderly.
