The Jayamangaltar Drinking Water Project aims to provide safe, reliable, and sustainable drinking water to **525 people from 100 households in Jayamangaltar Village, Ward No. 7, Namobuddha Municipality, Kavrepalanchok District, Nepal.
A community needs assessment identified lack of access to safe drinking water as the village's highest priority. The existing water source is located approximately 2 km from the settlement, requiring women and girls to spend several hours each day collecting water. The community currently relies on untreated spring water, increasing the risk of waterborne diseases and limiting access to adequate sanitation and hygiene.
To address these challenges, the project will construct a gravity-fed drinking water supply system consisting of a protected source intake, source tank, sedimentation tank, 125,000-liter reinforced concrete collection tank**, water treatment (chlorination) unit, approximately 2 km of HDPE transmission pipeline**, village distribution network, and 100 private household tap connections. In addition, a 15-day training program on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), operation and maintenance, and basic plumbing will be provided to members of the Water Users and Sanitation Committee (WUSC) and local technicians to ensure long-term sustainability.
The total project cost is USD 93,000. Grant funds will be used for civil construction, pipeline installation, water treatment facilities, household tap connections, training and capacity building, technical supervision, project monitoring, and environmental protection measures.

Rotary Club Member Involvement
Members of the Rotary Club of Dhulikhel Shikhalapur will actively participate throughout the project by:
1.Conducting project planning and community consultation.
2.Monitoring construction quality and financial accountability.
3.Coordinating with Namobuddha Municipality and the Water Users and Sanitation Committee (WUSC).
4.Participating in WASH education and hygiene awareness programs.
5.Monitoring project implementation, evaluating outcomes, and ensuring compliance with Rotary Global Grant requirements.
6.Supporting the official project handover and long-term follow-up to ensure sustainability and community ownership.
