Summary: Work with targeted schools to provide resources/materials needed to support literacy and reading
Childhood literacy development and support has been identified as an issue within our community, reaffirmed by a recent presentation by our borough superintendent. Our club requests funding to provide reading and literary resources and materials to a targeted school or literacy commission within our community. We hope to support and engage parents of targeted students as well by identifying resources needed to support reading outside the hours of school. Early in the school year, we plan to meet with partners to develop reasonable measures and timelines. In Spring, ideally hold a celebration to recognize students for their reading improvement. We hope this partnership will lead to future, related service projects.
