Summary: In a partnership with Wound Walk and Lestonnac Free Clinic, RCVP will help to assemble outreach packages for on-site medical care and basic comfort support to unhoused individuals across Orange County, California.
|
To help with the care strategy of Wound Walk, Rotary members will assemble outreach backpacks with personal hygiene items, wound care and prevention, as well as pet supplies, recognizing the close bond between unhoused individuals and their animals. Many of these individuals are unable or unwilling to visit traditional clinics due to systemic barriers including lack of transportation, mental health and trauma challenges, stigma and fear of institutions.
The total funding for this project is $1500 and will be used to purchase backpacks, hygiene items, socks, sunscreen, wound care/prevention items, as well as food for pets. Planning will begin after approval by TRF and will be completed by April 30, 2026. An estimated 30-40 Rotarians will be involved in the purchase and assembly of the backpacks, as well as transport to Wound Walk for distribution.
