This program supports the specialized care and healing services for survivors of torture and trauma resulting from international human rights violations. Approximately 38,000 such survivors reside in San Diego.
This grant will support the healing and reSuppliescovery of trauma survivors, Survivors Org will fund essential equipment and supplies for three of their most impactful group therapy and peer support programs:
• Music Therapy Program providing a range of musical instruments for use in trauma-informed music therapy sessions.
• Expressive Art Therapy for Women providing for art supplies to support weekly expressive art therapy group for women survivors.
• Survivors Soccer Team Peer Support, an all-gender, trauma-informed soccer team to foster community, physical wellness, and peer support amongst our clients. Funds will be used to purchase goals, more soccer balls, team uniforms, and shoes, equipment essential to establishing a long-term, low-barrier program for healing through sport.
San Diego Downtown Club expects to have a hands-on event supporting Survivors this year.
