Accessibility to free books for preschool children to read is not easy in rural Nebraska. Some communities have a small public library or none at all. And children who are not school age, do not have access to school libraries. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library provides children's books free of charge. This is a well known literacy program throughout the world. These free books are available to families who have children ranging from birth to age five years old. The Arnold Interact Club and the Arnold Rotary Club have joined together to provide funding to mail these free books to 230 children in Central Nebraska each month. The cost of mailing these books is $2.60 per book/per child/ per month. And for the 230 children, who have signed up for this program, is a total mailing cost of $598.00/month. This grant request is for one month of mailing costs in the amount of $598.00.
