District Grant Final Report

District 5340

2025-26

Rotary Club: El Cajon Sunset

Project Title: Food Security

Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

This project was funded by Rotary District 5340 DDF and a matching donation from Rotary Club of El Cajon Sunset. A donation of $600 was made to I AM MY BROTHERS KEEPER CDC organization for the purchase of refrigeration freezer equipment. This donation and other funds purchased a 40-foot-long refrigerator. The bigger efficient refrigerator maintains fresh food for a longer time. The larger quantities of food stored in the refrigerator meet the demand for the vulnerable community of Southeastern San Diego. The event took place in San Diego on March 10, 2026

2. How many people benefited from this project? Over 450 families benefit each week.

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

Residents of Southeast San Diego and the environs.

This project allows for storage of large quantiles of food to address distribution deficiencies and food security challenges.
