Project Description

Region: Africa

Country: Uganda

Location: Busia Uganda

Total Budget: $248,650

Area of Focus: Community economic development

In Busia, Uganda, poverty, limited educational opportunities, widowhood, abandonment, disability, and other circumstances beyond the control of many women have created significant barriers to stable employment and financial independence. Pearls With Purpose has identified 64 women who are eager to participate in vocational training that will provide practical skills in jewelry making, sewing, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and small business development. More than a training program, Pearls With Purpose creates a pathway to self-reliance by equipping women with marketable skills, mentorship, leadership development, and access to income-generating opportunities. As women begin earning sustainable income, they gain confidence, restore personal dignity, and become role models within their families and communities. The impact extends far beyond the individual participantâ₀"breaking generational cycles of poverty by helping mothers provide education, nutrition, healthcare, and opportunity for their children. Through cooperative learning, peer support, and ongoing mentorship, participants develop meaningful relationships and are encouraged to launch businesses within their own communities, creating local economic growth and a lasting culture of empowerment that can transform families for generations to come.

Because of the experience of the past 25 years in Philippines, India, Cambodia, Thailand, Peru, Dominican Republic, Kenya, and potentially Ghana, we have found a unique circumstance where with a permanent on site skills and training center that is used for multi use such as English as a second language, children nutritional elements, girls, menstruation, and hygiene as well as vocational skills training. This will become a multi use facility benefiting hundreds and thousands of Ugandans struggling with the current upset in their infrastructure and highways. We have a proven vocational training system that has helped alleviate poverty for over 1100 individuals in other countries. Club members will be involved with the mentorship side if they do not prefer traveling, with the building side, as well as local workers to support the economy, and with the vocational training in an of itself. Club members will be encouraged to participate in meaningful ways on various vocation, training modalities.
