The Rotary Club of Arua, in partnership with the Encinitas Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Top of the Lake-Mooresville Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Greater Nebbi and Rotary Club of Kampala Naalya, proposes the project "Sustainable Safe Water Access for Vulnerable Communities in Nebbi District"
Many households and schools in Nebbi District continue to rely on unsafe water sources due to inadequate or non-functional water supply infrastructure. Women and children are disproportionately affected, often walking long distances to collect water, reducing time available for education, household productivity, and income-generating activities. Poor access to safe water also contributes to waterborne diseases and poor hygiene outcomes.
Recognizing the urgency of this need, the project will construct 4 new boreholes, serving targeted 4 villages and selected schools in Nebbi District. The intervention is expected to provide sustainable access to safe water for approximately 4,000 people. The project will target villages and schools, specifically in Paminya-Ayilla, Omoyo Lower/ Abindu Seed Secondary School, Kalwang - Destiny School and Angoji Community in Pagwata Parish, Acana Sub County
To guarantee sustainability, each site will be supported by a trained Water User Committee with strong governance and financial management capacity. Community-managed maintenance savings funds will be established, enabling long-term functionality and reducing dependence on external support. Beyond infrastructure, the project will deliver hygiene education to strengthen safe water handling and disease prevention practices.
Your project is "Fully Pledged". This means the amount of the pledges is equal to the total budget of the project. Now the project needs to be finalized and go through the approval process with The Rotary Foundation. This process gets started on the administration page.
Project listed for the 2026-27 Rotary Year.

DDF contributions in grey are pending approval of the corresponding district committee.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
