1.EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Rotary Club of Moradabad Navyam, District 3100, proposes to establish a Mobile Blood Collection & Donation Ambulance and Thalassemia Support System to improve access to voluntary blood donation, strengthen donor mobilization and support patients requiring regular blood transfusions in Moradabad and surrounding underserved areas.
2. PROJECT GOAL
To establish a sustainable, community-driven voluntary blood donation and Thalassemia support system in Moradabad and surrounding areas through a fully equipped Mobile Blood Collection & Donation Ambulance.
3. PROJECT OBJECTIVES
• Establish a fully equipped mobile blood collection facility. • Increase voluntary blood donation through community-based collection drives. • Develop a sustainable network of voluntary and repeat donors. • Improve access to blood for patients requiring transfusion support. • Strengthen support for transfusion-dependent Thalassemia patients. • Conduct Thalassemia awareness, screening and referral programmes. • Reach rural and underserved communities around Moradabad. • Build partnerships among Rotary Clubs, hospitals, educational institutions, industries and community organizations.
4. NEED FOR THE PROJECT
Blood is required for accidents, surgeries, maternity emergencies, severe anaemia, cancer treatment and other medical conditions. Patients with transfusion-dependent Thalassemia have continuing transfusion needs. A mobile collection facility can reduce barriers to donation by taking organized blood donation opportunities directly to educational institutions, industries, corporate offices, residential communities and social organizations.
5. PROPOSED MOBILE BLOOD COLLECTION AMBULANCE
The project proposes procurement of a professionally designed and fully equipped Mobile Blood Collection & Donation Ambulance meeting applicable technical and regulatory requirements. The vehicle will function as a mobile extension of an authorized blood centre and will be operated by qualified medical and technical personnel.
6. KEY PROJECT ACTIVITIES
1. Procurement and commissioning of the mobile ambulance. 2. Regular blood donation drives at colleges, universities, industries, corporate offices, residential communities and suitable institutions. 3. Youth and first-time eligible donor mobilization. 4. Creation of a voluntary repeat-donor network. 5. Thalassemia awareness programmes. 6. Appropriate screening and referral in collaboration with qualified healthcare professionals. 7. Community outreach in rural and underserved areas.
7. EXPECTED BENEFICIARIES
Direct beneficiaries will include patients requiring blood transfusion, transfusion-dependent Thalassemia patients and eligible voluntary blood donors. Indirect beneficiaries will include families, rural and economically weaker communities, educational institutions, industries, community organizations and the wider population of Moradabad and neighbouring areas.
8. PROPOSED ANNUAL OUTPUTS Initial planning targets, to be validated through baseline assessment, include 60â€"100 mobile blood donation drives, 3,000â€"5,000 donors mobilized, 2,500â€"4,000 blood units collected, 1,000+ repeat donors registered, 75â€"100 institutions/community locations reached, 50+ Thalassemia awareness programmes and 10,000+ people reached through awareness activities.
9. PARTNERSHIP MODEL
Rotary Club of Moradabad Navyam will provide project leadership, Rotary coordination, community mobilization, governance and grant administration. An authorized blood centre/healthcare partner will provide medical and technical expertise, qualified personnel, blood collection operations and regulatory compliance. Rotary Clubs, educational institutions, industries and community organizations will support donor mobilization and outreach.
10. SUSTAINABILITY The ambulance will remain a long-term community asset. Blood donation drives will continue through institutional partnerships, repeat-donor engagement, Rotary mobilization, corporate CSR support, philanthropic contributions and other appropriate resources. The project is designed to establish a self-renewing donor ecosystem rather than a one-time campaign.
11. MONITORING & EVALUATION
Key indicators will include number of donation drives, donors mobilized, blood units collected, first-time and repeat donors, participating institutions, awareness programmes, people reached, screening/referral activities, Thalassemia patients supported and geographical coverage. Quarterly reviews will be conducted by Rotary Club Moradabad Navyam and the implementing partner.
12. LONG-TERM IMPACT
The project will create a permanent bridge between voluntary donors and patients in need. It will strengthen emergency blood preparedness, support transfusion-dependent Thalassemia patients and expand awareness, screening and referral for Thalassemia. The model can subsequently be replicated in other underserved areas ofDistrict 3100.
13. PROJECT COST The proposed project cost, based on the reference project matter provided, is 34,30,222.00. this is approximately US$35,956. The actual USD equivalent for the Global Grant application should be recalculated using the applicable Rotary Foundation exchange rate at the time of submission/approval.
14. CONCLUSION The Mobile Blood Collection & Donation Ambulance project is a sustainable, measurable and scalable community healthcare initiative. It combines voluntary blood donation, donor mobilization, emergency blood support, Thalassemia awareness, screening and community partnership under Rotary leadership.
